Darlington School: Go to school in the south, explore the world

What is it about this place? Imagine a school where 5-year-olds star in musicals and 8-year-olds master PowerPoint; where 11-year-olds are members of an orchestra and 13-year-olds compete on the lacrosse field; where 15-year-olds build robots and 17-year-olds lead the Honor Council. At Darlington School, they do this and much more.

Our students are nurtured in small classes. They learn more than reading, writing and arithmetic; they develop self-confidence and a rare intellectual curiosity that takes them through Middle and Upper School. At Darlington, students live our motto: Wisdom more than Knowledge; Service beyond Self; Honor above Everything.

Darlington is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory school, serving high school boarders and day students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. For over 100 years, we have offered motivated students rigorous academics, comprehensive fine arts opportunities and a competitive athletics program in a nurturing environment.

Spanning 500 acres, Darlington’s campus is nestled around a small lake in the foothills of the Lookout Mountain Range in Rome, Ga., a medical center and educational hub located one hour from Atlanta and Chattanooga, Tenn.

This year, day students from Rome and the surrounding areas sit in classrooms with boarding students and faculty from 38 countries and 17 states, making up the Darlington family.
