Darlington School's hiring needs are normally not determined until the end of February or early March. During this time frame, we will have a clearer picture of availability and will begin our search process.

Faculty Duties

    Teaching:
    • Five (5) Classes
    • Coach Class
    • Probably Two (2) Preparations
    • Class Preparation - often 2 hours nightly
    • Grades due every four (4) weeks
    • Substituting in Department
    • Comments written on Students Three (3) times annually
    • Advising students (6-10)
    After-School Duties
    • Coaching or Lifetime Fitness
    Dormitory Duties (if hired as residential faculty)
    • Once every seven (7) days approximately (weekends as well as weekdays)

Chief Development Officer

Job Description

The Chief Development Officer is a member of the school’s administrative leadership team and reports to the Chief Advancement Officer. The Chief Development Officer is responsible for leading the school’s alumni and annual fund-raising programs, including all aspects of the annual fund, the creation and development of all fund-raising materials, board solicitations, annual fund appeals, annual report, reports to donors, major donor cultivation strategies and materials, and donor acknowledgements. The CDO is also responsible for developing and maintaining active and productive relationships with board members, donors, administrators and faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and oversees parent and class-based fund-raising programs within the Annual Fund
  • Works actively with the Board of Trustees, the Planned Gifts Committee, and other volunteer leaders in keeping with Darlington’s philosophy of peer cultivation and solicitation
  • Assists the Board with recommending and researching potential new members
  • Designs, implements and manages all annual fund-raising activities including annual giving, endowment and other school-related solicitations
  • Serves on the Campaign Cabinet as Assistant Director of the Centennial Campaign
  • Manages strategies and activities for donor cultivation, solicitation, and relations
  • Maintains contact with and develops proposals for foundations and corporations
  • Manages a comprehensive planned giving program
  • Works with the Chief Advancement Officer and Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees to develop strategies to initiate and meet aggressive fund-raising goals
  • Develops fund-raising training for Trustees and other leadership volunteers
  • Assumes responsibility for all Development reports to the Board and attends Board meetings as needed
  • Creates office systems to support all Alumni and Development projects and operations.
  • Supervises and sets policy for donor and gift record-keeping
  • Coordinates development research activities
  • Oversees the management of databases and all records, files, gift processing and the pledge reminder and acknowledgement programs
  • Works closely with the Business Office to ensure proper recording and reporting of gifts
  • Manages Alumni Relations Office and oversees alumni programs and events
  • Serves as a liaison to the Parent Association

Upper School Spanish

Job Description

Qualifications (The ideal candidate will have the following experiences and/or qualifications):

  • Willingness to model the distinct mission of Darlington School
  • Undergraduate degree in Spanish or a Spanish-related field; graduate degree in Spanish, Spanish-related field, or education preferred (but not required)
  • Ability and willingness to participate in school life outside of the classroom (coaching, sponsoring clubs, etc.)
  • Prior teaching experience preferred
  • A deep understanding and love for children
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability and willingness to work as team player
  • Comfort with on-going improvement and change
