Soccer Academy member Allison Wetherington ('12) has had a very busy summer. While most of her peers were relaxing at the beach or pool, Wetherington was attending the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) and U.S. Club Soccer id2 National Training Camp at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore.

Presented by Nike's "The Chance," the program drew 100 of the top female youth soccer players born between 1993 and 1996 from across the United States.

"They came together for three days of elite training, competition and presentations at one of the world's premier athletic facilities," said Chad Liddle, director of Darlington School Soccer Academy. "It was great exposure for Allison because U.S. Soccer scouts were there to scout players for potential inclusion in the National Team programs."

Out of the 100 participants, 18 -- including Wetherington -- were selected for an international soccer experience in England.

"She has been taken by Nike and Mia Hamm's 'The Chance' to England to play at Old Tratford Stadium (Manchester United's stadium) during the Olympics," Liddle said. "This is an opportunity of a lifetime and we are so proud of her!"

These players will also be invited to attend Mia Hamm's TeamFirst Academy to work alongside the former U.S. international star and her staff.

Wetherington also plays for the Concorde Fire Soccer Club in Atlanta.
