Plaque pays tribute to memorable English faculty, past and present

Dan and Adeline Hanks presented a bronze plaque to Darlington’s English department during the Faculty Appreciation Dinner in May. The plaque recognizes seven influential teachers from the 20s to the 90s: Ernest L. Wright (deceased), 1920-54; Eldridge V. Regester, 1947-49 and 1958-85; Roger F. Stifflemire, 1974-94; Bradford Gioia, 1976-94; Mary S. McDonald, 1974-90; Rena G. Patton, 1982-98; and Edward N. Beachum ’63 (deceased), 1972-83

Guests at the dinner were Adeline and Dan Hanks, former English teachers Rena Patton and Roger Stifflemire, Mary Beachum, wife of former English teacher Edward Beachum, and Betty Ledbetter, daughter of former Darlington President Ernest L. Wright.
