Bell to serve on accreditation team

Head of School Brent Bell has been asked to be a member of the SAIS accreditation team that will visit The Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tenn., in October.

Bell was named Darlington's 11th head of school in 2014. With two decades of experience in education, he holds a B.A. in History from the University of Richmond and an M.S. in Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to his work at Darlington, Bell was head of Upper School at Randolph School in Huntsville, Ala. He also served previously as assistant headmaster and dean of academic affairs at Woodberry Forest School in Woodberry Forest, Va., where he held the E. Craig Wall Family Mastership. He and his wife, Andrea, have three children, Charlie ('22), Jack ('24), and Brent ('26).

Accreditation is based on a peer-review model that derives its greatest benefit from peer educators reviewing the school’s self-study and responses to standards/indicators evaluating them in light of the evidence gathered during the team visit.

The visit will last approximately 2.5 days, during which time Bell and the other members of the accreditation team will review the school’s compliance with SAIS standards/indicators and its self study; tour the school; and speak with a variety of stakeholders, including administrators, faculty/staff, parents, board members and students. At the conclusion of the visit, the team will create a visit report, which provides a recommendation regarding the school’s accreditation.
