Kippi Ellison, the new middle grades learning specialist, holds a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Georgia, an M.Ed. in Middle Grades Math Education from Berry College, an Ed.S. in Leadership and Administration from Lincoln Memorial College, a Gifted Endorsement (K-12), and certification in K-12 Special Education.

“I am excited about Kippi's history of teaching and supporting middle grades students, particularly in mathematics which balances so well with the rest of the learning center team,” said Stefan Eady, assistant head of school for academic resources. “She has helped a wide range of students succeed in her past work and her enthusiasm for helping the individual student through careful evaluation and a team approach to implementing learning strategies make her a great fit for Darlington.”

Ellison has 13 years of teaching experience, most recently serving as gifted and special education math teacher at Armuchee Middle School. She is experienced in working with all levels of students, ranging from non-readers to gifted and accelerated learners.

“I am looking forward to working with the students in a small group or individual setting to improve their skills in each area,” Ellison said. “I love seeing the ‘ah ha’ moment in a student when they understand something. Each individual learns at his or her own pace, so when a child (or adult) finally understands a concept, the reward to them as a student and myself as a teacher is astonishing and it makes all the hard work and perseverance worth it!”

Ellison is married to Craig and they have two children, Cameron (‘21) and Connor (‘24), and George, their Great Pyrenees. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, biking, traveling and anything she can do to be outside or with her family (and George).

“Darlington is a school that believes in integrity and character,” Ellison said. “I firmly agree with the mission and beliefs and look forward to working at the school and seeing the students I teach and my own children learn and grow as individuals. I am thoroughly excited to work for a school that values education, diversity, and character in every student, and I’m thrilled about being a part of the Darlington Community.”
