2 Darlington records fall at the Calhoun Tri-Meet

Dante Tomaselli broke his own 100 yard Breaststroke record for the fourth time this season, finishing in first place with a 1:08.57.

Two Darlington Middle School Team records fell at the Calhoun Tri-Meet on Jan. 10. Seventh-grader Dante Tomaselli broke his own 100-yard Breaststroke record for the fourth time this season, finishing in first place with a 1:08.57. The 200 Men’s Freestyle Relay Team of Tomaselli, Ricky Frisiani, Sam Tullis and Zach Jones broke the two-year-old school record of a 1:59.74 formerly held by Samson Mumber, Jack Eady, Spencer Herring and Chris Mauer by 89 seconds with their first place time of 1:58.84.

Tomaselli also won the 100 Freestyle with a 57.84, a one second time improvement. Tullis won the 200 Freestyle with a 2:16.98, dropping 12 seconds off his best time. Jones dropped 12 seconds in his third place 500 Freestyle finish. Frisiani placed third in the 200 Individual Medley for the Tigers. The four man team finished third to the much deeper Calhoun and Heritage teams.

The Lady Tigers placed second overall, beating Heritage. The Women’s 400 Freestyle Relay of Loralei Forgette, Mollie Sabourin, Olivia Laughridge and Grace Ann Lundy placed second. The 200 Freestyle Relay of Ashlyn Earnest, Lundy, Amelia Whitefield and Addie Ray placed third. Placing third individually was Ray with a four second time improvement in the 200 Freestyle, Whitefield dropping seven seconds in the 200 IM and Forgette improving her time by 12 seconds in the 100 Butterfly.

The next meet for the Tigers is the Joe Gawry Middle School Championship Meet at Baylor School on Jan. 21.
