Emily Orr

Senior Emily Orr has been named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for September. 

A day student, Orr has attended Darlington since pre-K. She has taken 14 Honors and AP courses and is a member of National Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Nacional de El Coronel, International Quill & Scroll, Science Club, Young Democrats, World Languages Club, Tiger Experts, and the Servant Leadership Team. She also plays varsity lacrosse.

Orr is editor-in-chief of The Darlingtonian online student newspaper and The Ingkslinger literary magazine. She was a state-level semifinalist in the "Communicative Arts" category for the Georgia Governor's Honors Program in 2016. In addition, she has attended the Media Now STL High School Digital Media Summer Camp and the National High School Journalism Convention, where she received an honorable mention award in the review writing competition. 

Outside of school, Orr is a graduate of the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce's High School Leadership Rome program, a past HOBY ambassador and junior staff member, and an NAACP Youth Chapter president.

The daughter of Arlene Orr of Rome, Emily will be honored at an Optimist Club luncheon  on Sept. 19.
