Darlington School’s Soccer Academy’s U18/19 boys, U17 boys, and U18 girls recently traveled to Raleigh, N.C. to compete in the Capital Area Soccer League’s National Soccer Series Qualifier, and all three teams came home champions of their divisions.

The Labor Day weekend qualifier served as the first of five tournaments in the CASL National Soccer Series in Raleigh and earned the three Soccer Academy teams a trip to the CASL Showcase in December. The Showcase features over 400 competitive teams participating with over 600 college coaches recruiting on site.

The U18/19 boys' team tied in a scoreless match and won three games with goals by T.J. Mosko, Emilio Segura, Ethan Willie, Appvo Riihijarvi and Arttu Heinonen. The U17 boys won all four of their games with goals by Murilo Ferreira, Fonso Rodriguez, Gustavo Rezende, Smith Wheeler, Carlos Haubold and Paulo Gonzalos.

“After a slow start, the U19 boys found their rhythm after the second game and never looked back,” said Soccer Academy Operations Director Kevin Ray. “What a great way to start the season!”

The U18 girls team tied the first game with a goal by Christina Kinder and continued to win the next three games with goals by Kyla Reynolds, Maddie Cornwell, and Rebeckah Hufstetler.

“We’re very pleased with the girls' performance this weekend,” said Jamey Newsome, Soccer Academy assistant director. “They showed great skill and determination through a tough schedule of four games in two days. The team is much further along than expected and I look forward to seeing where they can go.”
