Juniors William Groover and Joe Hunt have been honored with spots on the 2016 Georgia Lacrosse All-Star Team. The athletes will join varsity players from 94 teams across the state at a special match at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, at Sprayberry High School in Marietta.

Over the past season, William Groover played goalie and served as one of Darlington's team captains. He was recognized with the Founders Award this spring.

"William has been a testament to hard work and dedication to improving himself and his lacrosse skills," said Preston Jacobs ('07), head boys' lacrosse coach. "Without him between the pipes, we definitely wouldn't have had the record we did."

Groover saved 198 goals this year, while only allowing 166. He averaged a 10% higher save rate than all goalies from other teams that Darlington played this season.

Earlier this year, long stick middie Joe Hunt was recognized with the Defender of the Year award.

"He was the defensive powerhouse on the team that went anywhere there was action and never shied away from a skilled attacker or midfielder," added Jacobs. "No one on defense plays harder than Joe."
