Senior Will Sparks has been honored as the Noon Optimist Student of the Month for January. The day student has attended Darlington since kindergarten.
During his time here, he has been recognized as an AP Scholar with Honor, and has completed 14 Honors and AP courses. Sparks is a four-year member of the varsity basketball and soccer teams, both of which he has lettered in, and also serves as captain. The senior has also been honored with Scholar Athlete awards in basketball, soccer and football. In 2015, he was named the Rome News-Tribune Small School All-Area Boys Soccer Player of the Year.
Sparks holds membership in the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society, and Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. He also sings in the Men's Chorale.
Will is the son of Jeanne and Billy Sparks of Rome, and was officially recognized with his award at an Optimist Club luncheon on Jan. 25.
