Darlington School's athletics program has been recognized with the Georgia Athletic Directors Association (GADA) Directors Cup for Region 7AA. The accolade recognizes the top scoring teams in each region based on the accumulation of points given during post-season play, and is presented by Regions Bank and GADA's board of directors.

"This is an honor for Darlington but specifically for all coaches, teams and student-athletes," said Bob Stinchcomb, outgoing athletic director. "Our spring season had nine of 11 teams in three state playoffs. Eight of those nine teams won the region in their sport."

Darlington won the cup with a total of 924.5 points. Both the boys' teams (470.5) and girls' teams (454.0) won individually with the highest aggregate points in the region. Rome's Model High School came in second place with a total of 748.0 points, and Gordon Lee High School (Chickamauga, Ga.) came in third with 628.0.

Stinchcomb added that Darlington School has won the Directors Cup several times in the past.

The Georgia Athletic Directors Association is a membership-based organization made up of athletic administrators that works to encourage professional development and standards of ethics, sportsmanship and unity within the profession, while also fostering and recognizing the achievements of student athletes. GADA works closely with the Georgia High School Association and the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association.
