Darlington School is pleased to announce that Chad Woods will be the keynote speaker at the Baccalaureate Service on May 15 and Jere Drummond ('57) will address the Class of 2015 at Commencement on May 16.

Woods, who was selected by the senior class to be the Baccalaureate speaker, has worked at Darlington since 2006. He currently serves as chairman of the math department, master scheduler and assistant varsity baseball coach. Woods holds a B.S. and M.Ed. from the University of West Georgia. He served previously as Darlington's head varsity baseball coach and head softball coach. He and his wife, Lindsay, have two children, Ava Ann (’26) and Barrett. They live on campus and he is a member of the Cooper House duty staff.

Drummond, outgoing chairman of Darlington's Board of Trustees, is the retired vice chairman of BellSouth Corp. A 1957 graduate of Darlington, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and master’s degrees from Georgia State University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was a Sloan Fellow. He began his communications career in 1962, holding numerous roles at BellSouth until his retirement in 2001.

Drummond has served Darlington in many capacities over the past several decades, most recently as chairman of the Board and co-chairman of the school's historic $90 million Second Century Campaign. In addition, he is a Distinguished Alumnus and a member of the J.J. Darlington Society. Drummond also served as the Centennial Commencement speaker in 2005 and as Honorary Chair of Leadership Darlington in 2012, 2013 and 2015. His family established the Jere A. Drummond Leadership Potential Scholarship in his honor in 2007. He and his wife, Patsy, have three grown children and eight grandchildren.

The Baccalaureate Service will be held May 15 at 7 p.m. in Morris Chapel. Commencement will begin May 16 at 9:30 a.m. on the Chapel Lawn. In case of rain on Saturday, Commencement will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Huffman Athletic Center. Darlington will stream both events live online at this link.
