Upper School Choral Director Rebecca Duren will sing at a special Berry College faculty artist recital on Tuesday, April 7, at the Ford Auditorium on the Berry campus in Rome.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Berry's Director of Wind Ensemble Activities Lauren Denney Wright will perform selections from composers Paul Hindemith, Darius Milhaud and Franz Schubert on the clarinet. Berry's Fine Arts Department Chairman Kris Carlisle will join Wright and Duren with accompaniment on the piano.

Wright also serves as Berry's clarinet instructor and as faculty adviser for the school's collegiate chapter of the National Association for Music Education.

"I'm thrilled to collaborate with Drs. Wright and Carlisle on this recital," said Duren. "Both professors are wonderful teachers and performers, and I'm honored to join them in this capacity."

Rebecca Duren joined the Darlington faculty in July 2013, and currently teaches Chorus, Concert Choir, Keyboard Musicianship, Ladies' Chorale and Men's Chorale. The Texas native holds a B.M. in Vocal Performance from the University of North Texas, an M.Mus. in Vocal Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, and an M.Mus. in Choral Conducting from the University of South Florida.

Duren has taught voice on both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as private lessons at her studio.
She has an extensive résumé of professional vocal performances throughout the country.

"This kind of outreach from our school is a resource for both the Rome and Berry communities," said Kim Tunnell, Darlington's director of fine arts. "Rebecca is an incredible vocalist and we are lucky to have her working with our students each and every day."
