Sam Moss ('63), second from left, recently attended the ACCIS board of trustees winter meeting in Houston.

Dean of College Guidance Sam Moss (’63) recently returned from the winter meeting of the board of trustees of the Association for College Counseling in Independent Schools (ACCIS), which was hosted by Rice University.

Moss serves as immediate past chairman of the ACCIS board. During their stay, Rice University President David Leebron and his wife hosted the ACCIS trustees for dinner at the president’s home on campus, where they were joined by a number of Rice administrators and faculty members.

In addition to conducting their three days of board meetings, the ACCIS trustees were given an extensive update on Rice, visiting with faculty and administrators in several of the colleges and meeting with a panel of seven Rice students selected by the admissions office. Among those students were graduates of the Westminster Schools, Pace Academy, Phillips Exeter Academy, and recent Darlington graduate Hector Picon (’14). Moss enjoyed visiting with Hector and being able to have lunch with him and several of his classmates.

While in Houston, Moss was also able to meet Darlington graduate Dr. Grant Muller (’04) for brunch. Muller is currently doing his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Texas Medical Center. On his return after landing at the Atlanta airport, Moss then ran into Darlington graduates Elliott Yamada (’98) and Lindsey Evans (‘98). All four of these Darlington graduates sent regards to everyone at Darlington who remember them—and they all look forward to their next visit to campus.
