Sponsored by the Darlington “Y” Cabinet, this year’s service will again feature seasonal music and readings centered around nine biblical lessons.
The service originated more than 125 years ago in England, where it was later adopted by King’s College, Cambridge University. In 1928, the BBC began broadcasting the event, garnering worldwide fame for the holiday service.
At the conclusion of the event, the congregation will be invited to continue the long-standing tradition of caroling outside in preparation for the Lighting of the Great Tree on Silver Lake.
For those who are unable to attend, the Festival of Lessons & Carols will be streamed live on the web at www.darlingtonschool.org/
