Darlington School announced today that WAGA-TV Channel 5 will visit the campus this week following a win in an online voting contest to select the station’s High 5 Sports “Game of the Week.”

A sports reporter from Atlanta’s FOX 5 will be on campus to cover the Tiger football game versus the Coosa High School Eagles, Friday, Oct. 31.

"We are tremendously honored and excited to have FOX 5 cover our game," said Tommy Atha, Darlington's head varsity football coach. "I think the large number of votes shows the enthusiasm that the Darlington and Coosa communities have for football. It's going to be a great night and a great football game!"

The Coosa-Darlington game held the top spot in the competition for several days leading up to the voting deadline on Oct. 30 at 12 p.m. The Coosa-Darlington game won the contest with a total of 32,498 votes. The next closest contender on the roster was the Bowdon High School-Bremen High School game with 22,597 votes.

What an honor it is to watch our football team and its coaches work so hard and represent Darlington so well this season,” said Bob Stinchcomb, Darlington’s athletic director. “On the behalf of the entire community, we are proud of our football team, cheerleaders, band and dance team. Go Tigers!"

The story will feature highlights from the Coosa-Darlington game, and is scheduled to air on FOX 5 during High 5 Sports on Friday at 11 p.m.

Both Coosa and Darlington are currently the only football teams that sit undefeated in the region. Following Darlington’s recent move up to Class AA, the school has been able to compete against more local teams than in years past.

Darlington faces the Coosa Eagles this Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Chris Hunter Stadium. Prior to kickoff, students will be recognized at Darlington’s Senior Night celebration at 7:10 p.m. Tickets to the game can be purchased on-site the day of the event.
