Luke Chaffin will be joining the Darlington Community as content manager in the Communication Office, effective Oct. 6.

"I am so excited to welcome Luke to our team," said Tannika Wester, director of media relations. "His experience and passion made him an ideal choice for this role. As content manager, much of Luke's work will focus on making connections, building relationships and telling stories. He is a great communicator and I know that he will have no trouble finding an abundance of wonderful stories to tell about Darlington and the people who make this the special place that it is."

Chaffin comes to Darlington from the Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau, where he has served as special projects coordinator for the past three years. In this role, he has been responsible for marketing and public relations, including social media content management, media relations, graphic design, and the coordination of special events. He is also a staff writer for V3 Magazine and holds a B.A. in Journalism from Georgia State University.

"I am thrilled to be one of the newest members of a community that is so committed to excellence, and to get to do what I enjoy most in the process,”  Chaffin said. “I look forward to helping tell the story of Darlington, sharing the individual facets of the school that make this pocket of Rome so special.”

Chaffin currently serves as president of the Between the Rivers Association and on numerous boards, including Rome Area Council for the Arts and the Rome Area Heritage Foundation. He is a member of the planning committees for CRBI's River Revelry and Hospitality House's Walk a Mile in Her Shoes as well as a member of the Rome Downtown Development Authority, the Paradise Garden Foundation, the Rome Area History Museum, and Trails for Recreation and Economic Development (TRED). You may have also seen Chaffin in Junior Servic League's "Follies" in 2011 and 2013 or as a contestant in Harbor House's Adult Spell-Off earlier this year.

He is an active member of First United Methodist Church, where he has served on the Board of Trustees, as hospitality minister, on the Serve the World team, and as co-coordinator of a mission trip to Costa Rica.

"One of the things I am most excited about is Luke's involvement in our community," Wester said. "It is clear that he already embraces the idea of 'Service Beyond Self' in his own life, which makes him a great role model for our students. Please join me in welcoming Luke to Darlington -- he can't wait to be a Tiger!"
