Darlington second-grader William Tullis shattered the age-group 5K road race world record at the Roman Rumble on Saturday.

His time of 21:21 appears to be the best official recorded time for a 7-year-old male, according the Association of Road Racing Statisticians. The fastest previous road 5K by a 7-year-old male was 22:14 by Adrian Gandara of West Palm Beach, FL on August 23, 2014.

With his true love being triathlon, Tullis has been on a tear this year, winning the Hy-Vee Kids Triathlon National Championships in Iowa and placing second at USAT Junior Triathlon National Championships. He says he loves training with Rome's Go-Go Running, Frazier Cycling in Duluth, Ga., and Three Rivers Swim Club in Rome.
