Jamey Newsome has returned to Darlington to serve as assistant director of Darlington School Soccer Academy. No stranger to the school, he held the same role during the program's early years from 2005-2007.

"I appreciate the family atmosphere at Darlington and the willingness to provide the best for every student and faculty member," Newsome said.

Newsome holds a B.S. in Physical Education from Mars Hill College (N.C.). as well as a U.S. Soccer Federation “B” License, KNVB Advanced Certification, and USSF D and E Licenses.

Most recently, he served as head women's soccer coach at Auburn University Montgomery and director of coaching at FC Torjager. He also has 18 years of soccer camp experience, including but not limited to Region III ODP Camp, SoccerPlus Camps, No. 1 Soccer Camps, and many other college and club camps.

"I first discovered a passion for coaching soccer in college while working summer soccer camps," Newsome said. "I loved the sport and couldn't imagine not being apart of it in some capacity. My philosophy is to teach the game of soccer with as much love and compassion as it gave to me.  I aim to create an atmosphere in which the student athletes can learn and succeed while enjoying the process."

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family. They especially enjoy doing outdoor activities together. Jamey and his wife, Jennifer, have two daughters, Ryan, 6, and Leah, 4.
