Junior Robert Muschamp was selected to compete as a linebacker for the North Squad in the Elite Junior Classic at McEachern High School on Saturday, Dec. 28. He was the only player from this area selected to play for the North Squad.
"This was a great opportunity for Robert to compete with some really good players from around the state and to show off his skill," said Darlington head football coach Tommy Atha. "He's a talented young man, and I know that he will help lead our team well next season during his last year as a Tiger."
Muschamp, a linebacker/defensive end, was All-Region in 2012. As far as his future after graduation, he is being pursued by a number of schools after attending camps last summer at Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, Florida and N.C. State.
“Recruiting has been good so far," Muschamp said. "It has picked up a pretty good bit since September. Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Duke, Auburn and Mississippi State are showing a pretty good amount of interest.”
Not only does Muschamp perform well on the field; he also has a GPA of 3.4, balancing academics, athletics and servant leadership. One of his favorite places to serve is at the local Boys & Girls Club. He also enjoys volunteering with his teammates at football camps for underprivileged children.
