Outstanding academic achievement has won senior Mitchell Thurston the honor of being named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for October.
A resident student and leader among his peers, Thurston currently serves as house manager of Neville House. He is also a member of the Soccer Academy, Random Notes, Concert Choir, Junior State of America, IMPACT Club and serves as an Admission Tiger Expert. In soccer, he received the Watson Family Cup Award as a junior, given annually to recognize hard work on the field.
Prior to Darlington, Thurston attended St. Anne's School in Nassau, Bahamas, for grades 7-10. There, he served two years as class president and performed with the Bahama National Children's Choir.
The son of Kimberly and Mitchell Thurston of Nassau, Mitchell will be honored at an Optimist Club luncheon on Oct. 28.
