Mike Hudson ('94), Upper School science teacher, has been named chairman of the Upper School Director Search Committee.

“I am very honored and excited to serve the Darlington Community in this way,” Hudson said. “Many years ago, my parents worked hard to send their four children to Darlington. Today, my brother has his two children enrolled here. All of us continue to benefit from our Darlington education."

Hudson, a graduate of the Class of 1994, was a four-year member of the swim team in high school. He has taught science at Darlington since 2008 and has also served as head varsity swimming coach and assistant tennis coach. He holds a B.S. in Biology from Georgia Tech and an M.S. in Biology from the University of West Georgia. Prior to Darlington, Hudson taught and coached at Marist School for five years and Model High School for three.

"Mike brings a wealth of experience and insight to this process," said Academic Dean David Powell. "
The Search Committee will make a recommendation to current Headmaster Tom Whitworth, who will make the final decision on hiring. He will consult with Brent Bell, our recently named future Head of School, in making this important decision."

Joining Hudson on the Upper School Director Search Committee will be Beth Pollard, CFO; Jill Babb, head of Cooper House, assistant dean of students and director of weekend activities; Kim Tunnell, director of fine arts and Middle School choral director; Chris Allen, Upper School counselor, AP Psychology teacher, girls’ basketball coach and sophomore class grade-level chair; Tara Inman, director of ESL, coordinator of spiritual life and former head of house; and Josh Hembree, math teacher, head coach of girls' basketball and golf, and FCA faculty sponsor.

"Our goal is to help Darlington School find the best candidate for the position of Upper School Director," Hudson said. "This is a meaningful task for me as Darlington is where I plan to spend the rest of my career and is a place that I love. Each member of this Search Committee is committed to hearing our community and to finding a qualified, hard-working and focused person that will lead our school into the future."
