Outstanding academic achievement has won senior Saahil Patel the honor of being named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for October.
Patel currently ranks 7th in the class of 127 and has taken 15 AP and Honors courses. An AP Scholar With Distinction, he is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and Tri-M Music Honor Society. He also participates in Y-Cabinet, Wind Ensemble, Stadium Band and varsity crew. A leader among his peers, he is drum line captain, crew captain and vice president of the Science Club.
Patel has received a number of awards and honors during his four years at the Upper School, including the George W. Awsumb Award, Most Outstanding Percussionist (twice), Outstanding Leadership for Wind Ensemble, and the Boys' Crew Coaches' Award and Scholar Award.
The son of Anita and Anil Patel, he was honored at an Optimist Club luncheon on Oct. 29.
