Darlington School will host the Rome Triathlon Club’s third annual Navigator Sprint Triathlon on Sunday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m. All proceeds will benefit Cancer Navigators, a local organization that provides resources to all who are touched by the life-changing process of dealing with cancer.
“Our goal is to have 250 participants and raise both money and awareness for this wonderful organization in our community,” said Sarah Husser, race director. “We are so excited that this year’s event is taking place at Darlington. It will be wonderful to have students there to help and cheer on the triathletes. Not to mention that the campus is absolutely gorgeous in the fall. It’s the perfect location.”
Participants will swim 500 yards in Silver Lake, located on Darlington’s campus. Then, they will bike 14.5 miles from Darlington Drive, to Park Avenue, to Blacks Bluff Road, down Walker Mountain Road, and back to the school. Last, they will run 3.1 miles through Darlington’s campus, ending on the track at Chris Hunter Stadium. Relay teams are welcome and encouraged.
Individual registration is $65 until Sept. 10 and $75 after that date. Relay team registration is $85 until Sept. 10 and $95 after. All participants must also purchase a one-day membership to USAT, which costs $10 for adults. All youth ages 17 and under are required to be annual USAT members to compete in sanctioned events. The cost of an annual youth membership is $5 per year. If you are already an annual member, please indicate your membership number upon registering for the event and bring your membership card to Registration/Packet Pick Up.
Included in the cost of registration is a dri-fit T-shirt and tote bag for each participant. Swim caps will also be provided and must be worn.
