Darlington announces Commencement plans

Darlington School is pleased to announce that Greg Griffeth will speak at the Baccalaureate Service on May 15 and John Cox will speak at Commencement on May 16.

Griffeth served as Darlington's dean of students before taking a position as upper school headmaster at Barstow School in Kansas City, Mo., last year. During his 12 years at Darlington, he held numerous roles including biology teacher, head of house, and football and track coach. Griffeth was integral in developing and implementing the English House System, restructuring the Upper School's discipline process, creating a successful advisory program, and initiating a wellness and character education program. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia, a master's from Vanderbilt and an additional master's from Columbia University.

Cox has taught English at Darlington since 2000. He is also director of intramurals, a member of the duty staff for Neville House and a college advisor. Cox is a two-time recipient of the Parents Association Excellence in Teaching Award; he also earned the R.M. Yankee Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2005. He has appeared multiple times in Who's Who Among America's Teachers and is the former adviser for The Inkslinger, Darlington's literary magazine. He holds a bachelor's degree from Southeastern Massachusetts University and a master's from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.
