Darlington seniors Julia Douglas and Shawn Powell were named Most Improved Students by Rome Rotary Club on Thursday, April 26.

“We were asked to nominate two students who had improved over their high school years,” said Sally Rudert (‘66T), assistant director of Upper School. “A committee decided that Julia and Shawn were each very deserving of the recognition.”

Both students transferred to Darlington as freshmen and are involved in a variety of extracurricular activities. Douglas has three Honors credits and is a member of the varsity crew and swim teams, as well as the Ladies’ Chorale. Powell is a recipient of the Darlington Parents Association Student Award; plays varsity football, basketball and baseball; and has participated in student publications.

Douglas is the daughter of Pat and Malcolm Douglas of Rome. Powell is the son of Larry Powell of Rome and Kellie Powell of Indialantic, Fla.
