Fourth-graders presented poems written during their recent poetry unit to their mothers at a poetry tea. Students were taught an etiquette lesson by Mrs. Lou Ella Hobgood and used the rules learned in the lesson to host their mothers or a special guest at a mid-morning tea. They then took turns reading their poems out loud to their guests.
In addition to writing the poems and serving their special guests, students hand-made invitations to the event and served a salad that they grew and picked from our class garden. The girls made flower arrangements from flowers picked on campus and decorated the poems with flowers picked early in the spring that they pressed and dried.
