As third-graders head into their Thanksgiving Break, they spent their group Social Studies time researching and reporting on the 11 states that make up the Northeast region of the United States.
Did you know that Maine is the only state that borders ONLY one state? Do you know what that state is? Or did you know that Rhode Island has the oldest synagogue in North America? Perhaps you did not know that Delaware was the first state to sign the U.S. Constitution, hence its nickname "the first state."
These are just a few of the things our third-graders have discovered on their tour of the Northeast. They are also discovering each state's state bird, state tree, state flower, state nickname and the importance of each state's flag.
