The Service Committee is a group of third through eighth grade students who have a passion to serve others. Their purpose is to learn about the needs of the community and create a service projects that provide aid. This fall the Service Committee informed the Pre-K through eighth grade students about food insecurity and the statistics on hunger in Rome and the surrounding area. We decided to adopt the Backpack Buddy program for our service project. Our goal was to collect food and fill 650 bags. In true tiger fashion, we surpassed our goal and packed 676 bags. We want to thank all who brought in food and gave of their time sorting and counting food, packing bags, and loading the bus to deliver the food to Rome Action Ministries. It goes to show that when we work together, we can accomplish great things!
