Rising fifth-graders read Gary Paulsen's adventure novel, "Hatchet," over the summer. The story's protagonist, Brian, must find a way to survive in the Canadian wilderness after his plane crashes.
As part of our annual Hatchet Day, students were challenged with creating their own fishing pole to use to fish in Silver Lake. This was an exciting year as we caught many fish and even a turtle!
Even the Bell family's dog, Scotty, watched the fun from Home-on-the-Hill.
