The Lower School's second annual Battle of the Bands involved all 107 string students from the Lower, Middle and Upper Schools beginning with first grade, and including one kindergarten student. Each grade was a "band," and chose a band name, a song to learn, and designed their own costumes and choreography. Some of the costumes were created in art class. The event was styled after the TV show "American Idol," and encouraging remarks by the seventh- and eighth-grade judges were exchanged between acts. In the end, all were declared winners and received medals to recognize their hard work and enthusiasm. Two acts, "Dem Cowboys" and "The Bowhunters," made encore performances at the recent Barnes & Noble Book Fair.
