Darlington School: Building on 100 Years Darlington School Centennial Weekend: Photo Recap

The year 2005 marks the 100th anniversary of Darlington School’s founding. John Paul and Alice Allgood Cooper named the institution for Joseph James Darlington, who had been Mr. Cooper’s teacher. Darlington has been known from its founding for the special bond that exists between teacher and student, and the Centennial celebrates the dedication of Darlington’s faculty and honors the Class of 2005.

Tennis Champions

Darlington School: Building on 100 Years Chris Jefts '84
“Many of the ‘life lessons’ that I have carried with me actually began taking root more than 25 years ago. Coach Jim Van Es was an educator by example in the disciplines of perseverance, teamwork and unfaltering loyalty. His halftime ‘Never Stop Dreaming’ speech that he delivered to his players, no matter what the scoreboard might have read at the buzzer, is still an influence in my life today.”
