The Northwest Georgia Youth Orchestras offer young instrumentalists the opportunity to widen their musical styles and knowledge while advancing their individual technique. Directed by local and regional professionals, these ensembles bring musicianship to a higher level, regardless of skill level.
Beginning Performers Collective
Designed for beginners who demonstrate the maturity for solo recital experience, this pre-orchestra group serves as the vehicle for resolving specific technical issues prior to a student’s advancement to the Junior Youth Orchestra. Lesson dynamics expand to include development of independent melodic/harmonic repertoire. Recitals must be accompanied by piano or at least one other instrument.
Fee: No cost beyond accompanist fees (if applicable)
Junior Youth Orchestra
Designed for intermediate-level proficiency, the Junior Youth Orchestra serves as a training ground for beginning orchestral musicians to hone their ensemble skills.
Fee: $150 per semester or $250 for two semesters
Senior Youth Orchestra
Designed for advanced-level proficiency, the Senior Youth Orchestra prepares students for college-level performance requirements. Students in this ensemble are divided into two proficiency levels. Level 1 members are required to perform as dual members of the Junior Youth Orchestra and the Senior Youth Orchestra. When advancement to Level 2 is earned, dual membership to the Senior Youth Orchestra and The Oak Hill Players of Berry Symphony Orchestra is possible.
Fee: $150 per semester or $250 for two semesters
Level 1: Includes dual membership with the Junior Youth Orchestra
Level 2: Does not include dual membership with The Oak Hill Players; each student will incur a separate fee payable to The Oak Hill Players.
