|
How much will Coosa International Tennis Academy (CITA) cost in addition to Darlington tuition?
CITA’s training fee for the 2006-07 academic year is $4,500, not including tournament and travel expenses. This is in addition to Darlington’s tuition.
Where and when will practice take place?
Practice takes place at Coosa Country Club, Monday through Friday after school.
Will my child be eligible to play on the Darlington School varsity tennis team while training with CITA?
Resident Academy participants will not be eligible for varsity tennis.
How will my child get from the School to practice and back?
Darlington School provides transportation to and from Coosa Country Club at no additional cost.
What kind of training will be required for CITA participants during the summer months?
There is no required training in the summer; however, a regimen of training would be in the best interest of the player. Students may choose to continue training with CITA through the summer at an additional cost.
Will there be major travel involved with CITA?
Most travel will be limited to the Southeast. With the proliferation of year-round tennis in Georgia, there are a wide variety of opportunities close to the School.
In how many tournaments will my child participate with CITA?
Your child will not be competing every weekend. CITA staff will help determine which tournaments are most appropriate for your child’s ability and how frequently he or she competes. Participants are guaranteed at least six tournament play opportunities per year.
Is there a limit on how many students can be enrolled in CITA?
Yes. Due to the limitations of court availability only a select number of Darlington boarding students will be accepted to participate in CITA each year.
Do you have to have a certain skill level to participate in CITA?
While all levels of players are eligible for admission, acceptance into CITA is competitive and requires a demonstrated level of competence based on experience and a completed written application. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and acceptance will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Do you have to be a certain age to participate in CITA?
CITA is an opportunity limited to Darlington Upper School (grades 9 to 12) boarding students.
