The Old School

Located on East 9th Street, this building was constructed by Mr. John Paul Cooper in 1905 and was enlarged in1906. The Darlington School for Boys was located here until the move to the DeSoto Park site on Cave Spring Street in 1925. The building was subsequently used as an elementary school and girls high school, called Cooper Hall. After Cooper Hall closed its doors, the building was used as the Rome YMCA until the present YMCA building was erected on the site, at which time it was torn down.
