Home-on-the-Hill

     The oldest building on campus, and one of the oldest structures in Northwest Georgia, this house was built in 1832 by Philip W. Helphill, one of the founders of Rome. According to legend, Rome was conceived of and named in the parlor of this house. Since 1923, the house has been occupied by the presidents of Darlington.
