Shelley Daniel

Theatre Director

Shelley has served as Darlington’s Theatre Director since 2015. In addition to directing and designing the Upper School fall play and winter musical, she is a new faculty mentor, student advisor, iPeriod sponsor and a member of the Thornwood House duty staff. Shelley also teaches cinema studies and theatre lab in the Upper School, drama in the Middle School and is Darlington’s International Thespian Society troupe director. For her service to Darlington, she has received the Significant Contributions to the Darlington Community Award, the Beachum Master Teacher Award, the Athlene Forsyth Award, the James Douglas Brown Jr. Faculty Award and the Parents’ Choice Award. Shelley holds a B.A. in Communication and Theatre Arts from Mercer University and an M.F.A. in Theatre from the University of Southern Mississippi. She has 20 years of teaching experience including the University of Tennessee at Martin and South Side High School in Jackson, Tenn. Shelley also worked in New Concept Development for the Walt Disney Company in Glendale, Calif. She has directed and designed over 50 theatrical productions and performed in over 40 plays, films, and commercials.

Sergel and based on the Emmy award-winning television movie “12 Angry Men,” by Reginald Rose. Performances are Oct. 13-15 in the Zelle Black Box Theatre.
