John, who has taught English at Darlington since 2000, was named Thatcher Chair of English in 2009 and chairman of the English department in 2017. He is also a college adviser, a member of the Moser House duty staff, and an assistant cross country and track and field coach. For his service to Darlington, John has received the following awards: Parents Association Award 2003, 2005; R.M. Yankee Excellence in Teaching Award, 2006; Brown Faculty Appreciation Award, 2005; Parents’ Choice Award, 2012; Excellence in Teaching Award, 2007, 2009, 2015, 2017; and Significant Contributions to the Darlington Community, 2014. He also had the honor of giving the Commencement speech in 2009. John holds a B.A. from Southeastern Massachusetts University and an M.A. from the University of Massachusetts. He and his wife, Sunny, have three children, Alex (’13), Jade (’16) and Samanda (’18).
