Tiger PRIDE
Parents Rallying in the Interest of Darlington Education

The purpose of our parent organizations is to enhance student life and to support faculty, staff, and administrative efforts to ensure Darlington students receive the best education possible. Opportunities for parent involvement are available throughout the year and allow parents to actively participate not only in their child’s education, but to become part of the Darlington family.

Lower School Tiger PRIDE

Lower School Tiger PRIDE is designed for parents of students in pre-K through grade 4. Annual dues are $35 and our goal is 100-percent participation from parents. Membership dues, plus proceeds from additional fundraising efforts, help provide additional equipment, computer software and books for the Lower School; classroom support money for the teachers; and field trips, plays, etc. for the students.

Middle School Tiger PRIDE

Formerly called the Parents Association, this organization is designed for parents of students in grades 5-8. Annual dues are $75, which covers membership in both Middle and Upper School Tiger PRIDE. Our goal is 100-percent participation from parents. The Middle School’s allotment of the membership dues, plus proceeds from additional fundraising efforts, help sponsor a variety of school events such as the Christmas Dance, Spring Dance, Faculty Appreciation Week, and scholarships and funding assistance for field trips.

Upper School Tiger PRIDE

Formerly called the Parents Association, this organization is designed or parents of students in grades 9-12. Annual dues are $75, which covers membership in both Middle and Upper School Tiger PRIDE. Our goal is 100-percent participation from parents. The Upper School’s allotment of the membership dues, plus proceeds from additional fundraising efforts, help sponsor a variety of school events such as the Back-to-School Bash, Homecoming Dance, Christmas Dance, Faculty Appreciation Week, Junior-Senior Prom and the Used Book Sale. Upper School Tiger PRIDE also supports service projects, house events and provides Faculty Grants, which allow teachers to explore additional educational programs to enhance the classroom experience for all students.

Athletic Booster Club

The Athletic Booster Club supports Darlington’s interscholastic athletic program by fundraising and volunteering. Club involvement helps provide quality facilities and equipment for Darlington’s varsity, junior varsity, and Middle School teams. The club operates concession stands, sells programs, manages parking at home events, and offers Booster Club memberships to generate revenue for Darlington athletics. Monies received from dues and fundraisers have been used to purchase items such as video and practice equipment, a sound system for the football stadium, a waterboy hydration system, score boards, a lightning detector, wrestling mats, and a concessions trailer. These funds also provided $125,000 toward the construction of the A.J. Huffman '57 Memorial Athletic Center and made it possible to remodel the Lower School gym, repaint the track surface, donate $25,000 toward the baseball hitting facility and restrooms and fund the scholar awards that are presented seasonally during sports assemblies. This year the booster club contributed $50 towards the purchase of each letter jacket and $100 towards the purchase of state championship rings. Other support included helmets for lacrosse and new cheerleading mats.

Membership fees are $75 for an individual and $125 for a family membership. Reserved parking for all home football games may be purchased through the Athletic Booster Club for $25. Grandparent membership fees are $40 and include two athletic passes and one parking pass per membership. During online registration in the summer or by contacting the membership chairman, you will have the opportunity to choose the membership package of your choice. See our website for detailed information and a list of officers for the Athletic Booster Club.

Fine Arts Booster Club

The Fine Arts Booster Club offers an opportunity to show appreciation and support for students and teachers as they pursue excellence in all areas of the arts at Darlington. Dues and proceeds from fundraisers provide necessary equipment for all arts programs including Hugs and Kisses for fine arts students; awards and trophies; framing for senior artwork; drinks for home and visiting bands during football games; and fine arts receptions. In addition, the Booster Club supports teachers through grants for educational programs or classroom supplies to enhance learning for all students. Booster volunteers provide support for the winter musical as well as other performances. Our goal is 100-percent parent participation. The cost of membership is $35 for a Single; $100 for a Patron, which includes listing in all programs and four general admission tickets to all Darlington Players’ performances; $250 for the Friend’s Circle, which includes the above plus special seating area at all instrumental and choral performances; and $500 for the Humanities Society, which includes all of the above, reserved seating at all performances, and a half-page ad in the Winter Musical program.
