Dear Darlington Community,
This is the second of a series of updates regarding the progress being made by the Head of School Transition Committee. This committee – comprised of trustees, parents and faculty/staff members – will assist incoming Head of School Brent Bell and his family with their transition to Rome, while ensuring a smooth transition between current Headmaster Tom Whitworth and Brent.
We are happy to share that Brent has been involved in several strategic Darlington events this semester. He and his wife, Andrea, joined us at the Second Century Campaign Gala Celebration at Atlanta’s Fox Theater on Saturday, where top donors, volunteers, faculty and staff had the opportunity to visit with them. It was a great opportunity for the Bells to experience the love that we all have for Darlington School.
Brent also participated in Leadership Darlington 2014 along with the 23 alumni who were selected for this year’s class. Members of the J.J. Darlington Society and 1905 Society, the top donors to the Annual Fund, had an opportunity to meet Brent at a special reception at the Home-on-the-Hill following the Leadership Darlington Graduation Ceremony on March 10.
In addition, Brent is taking an active role in assembling his leadership team for next year. He was an integral part of each of the ELA-8 Director finalist interviews on campus, which resulted in the recent hiring of Hope Jones.
In the coming months, the Transition Committee will be busy planning Brent’s introduction to all of Darlington’s various constituent groups. However, please remember that while Brent and his family are very excited to join us here at Darlington, he still has work to do at Randolph School between now and the time his leadership begins here.
The Bells plan to move into the Home-on-the-Hill in early July. Please keep this time frame in mind as you anticipate your opportunity to meet the Bell family.
If you have questions, feel free to contact any committee member. We look forward to sharing more information with you soon.
