Football Camp

Information for Registered Campers

Tackle the fundamentals and learn how to make football a snap at summer Football Camp. Play on Darlington’s Chris Hunter Stadium field and improve your strength and agility by working out in the school’s 96,000 square foot A. J. Huffman ’67 Memorial Athletic Center.

Darlington School varsity football head coach, Tommy Atha, gives campers the basic mechanics needed for success. Darlington varsity coaches, coaches from other area high schools, current and former college players, and Darlington varsity athletes all join Coach Atha to make this a winning experience for each camper.

Beyond the fundamentals, campers learn to be team players, build a strong work ethic, maintain a positive attitude, become self-motivated, and develop leadership skills.

About the director

Tommy Atha joined Darlington as assistant varsity coach for the offensive line in 1993. In 1995, he became offensive coordinator for the varsity football team and also coached the varsity girls’ basketball team.

Atha was named varsity football head coach in 2001, and has helped lead the Darlington Tigers to state playoffs 10 times, including four region championships and the 1998 state championship. His coaching philosophy is simple: “Fundamentals are the key to success.”

Prior to joining the Darlington faculty, Atha taught and coached football at Rockmart High School. A 1986 graduate of Rockmart, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1990 from Presbyterian College, where he played football and baseball.
