Basketball



Darlington varsity and junior varsity coaches, assisted by high school and college players, drive home fundamental skills—shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, defending, and setting and using screens. Campers are given individual attention in station drills stressing critical fundamentals and competitive advantages. Compete daily in shooting and team play. Learn how to work hard and encourage teammates, while enjoying competition—a winning combination that enhances your self-esteem and makes you a successful player.

About the directors

Josh Hembree joined Darlington’s faculty in 2008 as math teacher and head varsity girls basketball coach. He has six years of coaching experience at Berry College and Model High School, and has been an instructor at numerous basketball camps in Georgia and Alabama. In 2009, he led the Lady Tigers to the Sweet Sixteen.

Tim Garrett has coached junior varsity and varsity boys basketball at Darlington for twelve years now. As an All-American at Emory University, Coach Garrett holds numerous school records, including leading scorer and rebounder. He was voted UAA player of the year at a time when Emory was ranked in the top 10 of Division III and has been voted into Emory University’s Hall of Fame.
